I have worked with the SNAP-Ed program at the OSU Extension office in Sandusky County since 2001. I really enjoy working with people of all ages. SNAP-Ed focuses on nutrition education, obesity prevention and is a component of SNAP. This is a federal/state partnership that supports nutrition education for persons eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the goal is to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP will make nutritious food choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA food guidance. The educational programs serve people at venues such at some senior centers, public housing, some schools, pre-schools, soup kitchens and shelters, some community centers and qualifying worksites. The free SNAP-Ed program encourages the participants to attend a series of programs that could meet monthly or weekly depending on the needs of the class
